A routine traffic stop for a Toyota Camry with non-functioning break lights led to a cocaine charge Saturday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Ronda Lynn Glenn, 59, of Hilton Head, was arrested for simple possession of cocaine. She was released from the Beaufort County Detention Center after posting bond, according to the jail log.
A deputy stopped the vehicle in the area of Pope Avenue and New Orleans Road just after midnight Saturday.
The deputy said the car's two passengers were avoiding eye contact and acting suspiciously, according to the incident report. When asked whether there were drugs in the car, the driver said, "There shouldn't be."
A K-9 officer was called in and a small packet of white powder, later determined to be 0.9 grams of cocaine, was found in the rear driver's side seat, where Glenn had been.
