A 23-year-old Allendale man was arrested in Bluffton on Friday and charged with trafficking a controlled substance, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
James D. Hicks was a passenger in a car stopped for speeding on Buck Island Road about 4:45 p.m., the release said.
When officers approached the car, they noticed Hicks acting suspiciously by trying to hide something down the front of his pants, the release said.
A search revealed Hicks had more than 180 pills of hydrocodine and oxycodone, according to the release. He was charged with trafficking and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

He remained in jail Saturday evening, with bond set at $10,000, according to court records.
Another occupant of the car was arrested on two outstanding warrants for misdemeanors, the release said.
The 25-year-old Bluffton man was being held at the detention center Saturday on a $7,372.50 bond, according to the jail log.
