Property damage caused by BB and pellet guns has increased on Hilton Head Island in recent weeks, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
Suspects shot at 22 parked cars and businesses between July 10 and Friday, causing thousands of dollars in damage, according to the release and incident reports. The incidents are occurring daily, usually between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m., the release said.
Most of the incidents have been on the north end of the island, the release said.
On Tuesday, a Saturn Vue's windshield was shattered while parked off Squire Pope Road, causing $1,500 in damage, one report said. Down the road Thursday at the Salty Fare Landing, two windows and two floodlights were broken, causing $800 in damage.
