A Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputy tried to end repeated threatening phone calls to a Yemassee woman over the weekend, according to a sheriff's office report.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday, a sheriff's deputy responded to Jacob White Road after a woman received several threatening calls from an unknown person, according to the report. The caller seemed to be threatening the woman and her sister, she told the deputy.
When the woman stopped answering the repeated calls, she received a text message that read, "Answer your phone or you will be dead by morning." The woman then contacted the sheriff's office, according to the report.
The unknown caller phoned again while the deputy was at the home but hung up when the deputy answered. When the deputy called back, he left a voicemail advising the caller to stop.
