A Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputy drew his weapon while trying to break up a large fight at Coligny Plaza early Sunday, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
After receiving multiple calls about a fight at the shopping center, deputies arrived at about 2:30 a.m. and found several large groups of men fighting. When the deputy flashed his blue lights, most of the crowd scattered but many witnesses pointed to a single vehicle, according to the report.
Unsure of the circumstances of the fight, a deputy approached the car and drew his weapon when the three men in the car shouted at him, according to the report. He did not fire the weapon.
The men in the vehicle and witnesses at the scene said a fight was between two groups of men leaving a bar in the shopping center, according to the report. One man in the car had a swollen nose and left eye, and was bleeding from his face, however, he declined to pursue charges, according to the report.
