A Bluffton woman is keeping a close watch on her pets after finding a mixture of raw meat and laxatives in her backyard.
Linda Kadesch, 65, called the Bluffton Police Department about 5 p.m. Friday after her four dogs found a pile of ground beef in her Gables Lane yard. Upon closer inspection, Kadesch saw the meat contained chunks of Ex-Lax chocolate, the report said.
It appeared someone intentionally threw the contaminated meat into her backyard, according to the report. No suspect had been identified as of Wednesday, Capt. Joseph Manning said.
Kadesch said she is considering buying a camera for her yard. Until then, she will not let her dogs -- two Yorkshire Terriers, a Maltese-Poodle and a Pekinese-Poodle -- go outside without searching the yard first.

"That's hard to do all the time," she said. "It's very nerve-wracking."
Kadesch said she does not know why someone would try to hurt her dogs but was relieved they did not require any treatment after eating some of the meat, she said.
"It could have killed them," she said. "Tiny little dogs, like the little babies, there's not much to them. Any more could have dehydrated them."
