Two Bluffton men were charged with armed robbery Sunday, accused of hitting a man in the face with a gun and robbing him of his phone and money Saturday, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
Bluffton residents Jeffrey Scott Black, 22, and Kurtis Michael Jackson, 20, struck the man in the head and face with a gun and took his phone and money near 110 Pinecrest Circle in Bluffton, the release said.
When the pair turned to leave, the victim started to fight one of the suspects. The victim told police the second suspect then fired a shot and both Jackson and Black fled the area, the release said.
Both suspects were arrested without incident around 7 p.m. Sunday at Vista View Apartments at 39 Haigler Blvd. in Bluffton, the release said. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrests.
Black and Jackson were both charged with armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Both are being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bond, according to the jail log.
Jackson was charged with armed robbery in Bluffton in August 2011, after he and two other teenagers robbed a 15-year-old using a hammer. He was sentenced in that case to a three-year suspended sentence and two years of probation in June 2012, according to court records.
