A Bluffton man discovered a fake foreclosure notice posted on his home Monday that claimed the building was to become a strip club, barbecue restaurant and drive-through liquor store.
The resident, who found the handwritten sign on the back door of his Goethe Hill Road house, reported the incident Friday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. The notice stated an application had been filed in "county district court," a court that does not exist, and foreclosure proceedings had begun.
It continued, "At 4 PM this evening, our cousins Cletus and Bubba will be by with their pick-up truck and you better have your stuff ready to go. If you fail to comply, they will throw a beatin' on you."
The homeowner told deputies this was not the first sign he has found on his property recently. He did not know who was responsible for the pranks, the report states.
