A 30-year-old Hilton Head Island man was charged Sunday with first-degree criminal sexual conduct after he threatened his girlfriend and forced her to have sex with him, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
Lionel Moncada-Aguilar was charged after his 31-year-old girlfriend called the Sheriff's Office early Sunday morning and told deputies he had come home to their Dillon Road apartment drunk and demanding she have sex with him, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
When she refused, Moncada allegedly grabbed a knife and began stabbing the walls of the apartment and threatening her, McIntosh said. Fearing for the safety of herself and her children, asleep in a nearby bedroom, she complied.
Once Moncada fell asleep, the woman took her children to her parents' apartment in the complex and called the Sheriff's Office.
Moncada was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he is being held for prosecution, according to the jail log.
