A Hilton Head Island man was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine early Saturday after deputies found bags of the drug in his pockets during a call for disorderly conduct, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
Deputies responding to a Hilton Head bar at about 1:30 a.m. found 55-year-old Thomas Patrick Bruns refusing to leave. The owner told deputies he hadn't served Bruns, who appeared to be heavily intoxicated, the report said.
Bruns refused requests by deputies to leave the bar and stop cursing, so he was arrested for public disorderly conduct. Searching his pockets, deputies found four plastic bags containing 3.7 grams of cocaine, the report said.
Bruns was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was released from jail Saturday after posting a $150,000 personal-recognizance bond, according to the jail log.
