A 49-year-old man was charged with pointing a firearm after he threatened a contractor with a pellet gun in a mobile home complex Friday in Beaufort, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
A contractor had refused to pay the man for work he claimed to have performed several weeks earlier, according to the incident report. The contractor said the man hadn't done the work and threatened to call police. The man slapped the phone from the contractor's hand and motioned toward the gun tucked into his pants.
The man ran when the contractor retrieved his phone and called authorities. He threw the pellet gun on top of a mobile home, where it was found by deputies.
The man was released Sunday from the Beaufort County Detention Center after posting a $5,000 bond.
