A 19-year-old man was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor Tuesday after it was reported that he was in a relationship with a 15-year-old girl, according to the Beaufort Police Department.
The teen's arrest Tuesday stemmed from an April 25 incident in which the girl's mother came home to find her daughter's boyfriend in the house, the report said. When the mother called police, he jumped out a window and ran. He turned himself in on Tuesday without incident.
He was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and is being held for prosecution at the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to the jail log.
