The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to help identify a woman who ran out of a Bluffton store with a set of bridal rings on Monday, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The suspect is described as a 20- to 25-year-old African-American woman with black hair and brown eyes, according to a Sheriff’s Office report. She was approximately 120 to 130 pounds and between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8. Surveillance photos showed her dressed in all black at the time, including black shoes and a black hat.
The woman came into Kay Jewelers Outlet on Fording Island Road shortly after 8 p.m., according to the report. At first, she ignored an employee asking to help her. When a second employee approached her, she asked to see an engagement ring and the matching wedding band. She told the employee she wouldn’t need to set up a store credit account because she had cash.
After taking a moment to hold and look at the 14 karat white gold Neil Lane rings worth $5,399, the woman allegedly ran out of the store with the jewelry still in hand just before 8:30 p.m., according to the report and the release.
