A Hilton Head Island family was displaced after a house fire early Sunday morning.
The front bedroom of a Chinaberry Circle home caught fire shortly before 7 a.m., according to a Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue news release. Seven people inside the home evacuated, and one person was treated and released from Hilton Head Hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire was under control by 7:15 a.m., but fire and smoke had already caused significant damage to the home, according to the release. Firefighters remained on scene until 12:30 p.m. An estimated value of the lost property has not been determined.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
One adult and one child are being aided by the American Red Cross, according to a Red Cross news release.
