The search for the driver who fled the scene of a crash that killed a Bluffton bicyclist Nov. 21 continues as the S.C. Highway Patrol released more information on the vehicle involved.
The crash was reported around 7 a.m. on U.S. 278 near Burnt Church Road in Bluffton, according to a S.C. Highway Patrol news release.
The crash killed 60-year-old Kevin Thomson, who was found injured in a ditch on the westbound side of Burnt Church Road, according to Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomson was taken to the Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he died around 7:30 p.m. that day, Beaufort County Deputy Coroner David Ott said.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2004-2006 black Acura TL, the release said.
The vehicle may have damage on the right front bumper and headlight area on the passenger side, along with a missing passenger side mirror, the release said.
