The 61st Beaufort Water Festival’s headline event will again feature country music.
Country duo LOCASH and singer and songwriter Canaan Smith will perform at the festival’s annual “Concert in the Park” in Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.
“I’m a big fan of their hit singles that are climbing the country charts and am looking forward to welcoming them to (Beaufort) this summer,” Water Festival commodore Chris Canaday said in a release.
Gates will open at 7 p.m. on July 16. Tickets are $25.
LOCASH, made up of Preston Brust and Chris Lucas, is known for the single “I Love This Life.” The men have written songs for Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.
Until recently, the group was the LoCash Cowboys. The name change was related to a logo, Lucas told NBC’s “Today” show.
Brust doodled one both liked. Cowboys was dropped.
“I wish we had a better story,” Lucas told Today in February.
Smith has toured with Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line. He is known for the song “Love You Like That,” which topped charts last year.
Country music has been a staple at the Water Festival, a nod perhaps to the area’s strong military presence.
Neal McCoy headlined the concert in 2015, Craig Morgan in 2014, Chris Cagle in 2013 and James Otto in 2012.
The Water Festival will play host to a road race on Parris Island on April 30. The festival will be held July 15-24.
