Lowe is the son of Karen Lowe of Wooster, Ohio, and Michael Lowe of Ridgeland.
Lanney is the son of Carol A. and Donald C. Lanney of Bluffton.
For 13 weeks, Lowe received entry-level training in subjects that included close-order drill, marksmanship with an M-16A4 rifle, physical fitness, martial arts, swimming, military history, customs and courtesies.
One week before graduation, Lowe and Lanney endured the Crucible, a 54-hour final test of recruits' minds and bodies. Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time.
During the eight-week program, Damico completed training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. Physical fitness also was emphasized.
Damico is a 2012 graduate of R.B. Stall High School in North Charleston.
