A man was shot early Wednesday morning in Seabrook as he attempted to break into a storage trailer, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office release said.
The owner of the property saw the unidentified man enter the trailer and fired a handgun twice in the direction of the trailer, according to the release.
The property owner, a victim of a home invasion several months ago, “heard the male subject yell out he had been shot,” the release said.
The would-be burglar was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
The owner of the storage trailer told investigators that he knew the subject, but didn’t recognize him before shooting.
“Investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the break-in of the storage trailer and subsequent shooting of the subject by the resident,” but as of Wednesday afternoon no one had been charged, the release said.
