Beaufort High School graduate Asher Wojciechowski struggled Thursday in his Major League debut for the Houston Astros against the Cleveland Indians in Houston.

Wojciechowski, 26, lasted four-plus innings, giving up four earned runs and taking the loss in the Astros' 5-1 defeat. He gave up eight hits, including home runs by Roberto Perez and Jose Ramirez, walked two and struck out two.

He told the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday that he would have roughly 15 people on hand at Houston's Minute Maid Park for the game, everyone from his wife to college friends.

"It's just a really exciting moment," he told the Chronicle. "I've been kind of anxious just knowing for about a week now that I'd be pitching tomorrow, so I just kind of can't wait to get out there. Just hoping like that each day is like just getting closer. I'm like alright, let's get out there, let's get it going. Just been looking forward to it. Just happy it's finally here."
