A 30-year-old St. Helena Island man was arrested Friday, accused of sexually assaulting a woman who visited his home in 2012, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Anthwon Washington was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the agency said.
On Dec. 6, 2012, deputies went to Beaufort Memorial Hospital to speak with a 23-year-old woman who said Washington assaulted her while she was at his home.
Another report was filed Sept. 5, 2013 after investigators learned Washington met a 13-year-old female runaway and provided her with a place to stay, according to the Sheriff's Office.
It was not clear Friday how Washington's arrest came about. He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he was denied bond, according to the jail log.
