Beaufort County Sheriff's Office deputies are searching for a subject who fled a traffic stop this afternoon in Beaufort, according to a news alert.
Just before 2 p.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of the Beaufort Walmart.
The vehicle's occupants were suspected of being involved in drug activity, the Sheriff's Office alert said.
Upon stopping, two of the vehicle's three occupants were detained, but a third subject jumped from the car and fled on foot towards The Oaks at Broad River.
A perimeter has been established in the area of Broad River boat landing and Broad River Blvd.
Sheriff's Office K-9 tracking team members are assisting in a search of the area.
Motorists and residents are asked to exercise caution in the area and to report sightings of any suspicious persons.
The subject is described as a black male between 20 to 25 years of age, approximately 5 feet 7 inches, 140 lbs with short dreadlocks.
He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and orange shorts.
