Bridges Preparatory School, a charter school in Beaufort, has named Bob Cook its permanent head of school.
Cook has served as the interim head of school at Bridges for six months. He earned a master's degree in secondary education from The Citadel and a bachelor's degree in biology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
"Bob demonstrated to us ... that he is a strong educator, a stabilizing leader and a visionary who understands what it will take to lead Bridges Prep to the next step," said Bridges board chairman John Payne.
Bridges opened last fall with about 360 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
Never miss a local story.
Cook is the school's third leader. When he accepted the interim title in November, he replaced Bernie Schein, who became interim administrator for the school after Melesia Walden's resignation Sept. 6, just weeks after the start of Bridges' inaugural school year.
