As many as 2,000 residents in northern Beaufort County lost power Thursday evening, many of them in Shell Point near the Broad River, as storms rolled through the area, according to SCE&G.
As of 7:30 p.m., the Burton Fire District had responded to about 15 storm related calls, a spokesman said.
Those calls included a tree falling on building 200 at the Oaks at Broad River Landing apartment complex at 100 River Chase Blvd., in Beaufort, said Dan Byrne of the Burton Fire District. The extent of any structural damage was unclear late Thursday.

At 7:20 p.m., South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fallen tree blocking US 1.7. near Cotton Hall Road in Yemassee.
As of 7:45 p.m., the Lady's Island-St. Helena and Beaufort Fire Districts had no storm related calls.
