A man who led deputies on a chase Tuesday after he was accused of trespassing in Beaufort told authorities his name was one of a famous civil rights leader, according to a report from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
It wasn't Martin Luther King Jr.
Ernso Prinsville, 23, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, fleeing to evade, and trespassing. Once stopped by deputies, Prinsville told them his name was Malcolm X. A digital fingerprint scan confirmed the man was Prinsville.
A homeowner along Fred Walker Drive reported Prinsville for trespassing after he spotted him walking through his property. Deputies stopped Prinsville on his bicycle along Little Capers Road, but Prinsville fled, tossing a plastic bag of marijuana into a ditch, the report said.
