A 27-year-old Seabrook man died late Saturday after he was dropped off at Beaufort Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Tyrice Washington was taken to the emergency room at about 9:55 p.m. by a man who quickly fled in a white sport utility vehicle without identifying himself, according to a news release from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. Washington was pronounced dead at about that time, the release said.
Within several minutes, a white Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Quinton Delaney Jr. was stopped by the Beaufort City Police Department on U.S. 21, near its intersection with S.C. 170. Authorities determined Delaney was the driver who had dropped off Washington at the hospital and found a handgun in plain view on the floorboard of his vehicle, according to the release.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, where it occurred and Delaney's role are under investigation, the release said.
