A man found dead in a Ridgeland yard Friday morning with a broken neck was likely killed in a struggle, according to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office.
Kenneth Chisolm, 48, was found on Mitchellville Road at about 7:30 a.m. by the homeowner, who was leaving for work, Jasper County Sheriff's Office Maj. Donald L. Hipp said Tuesday. Deputies are investigating his death as a homicide after an autopsy Saturday that showed Chisolm, of Orange Grove Road, had a broken neck, according to Hipp and Coroner Martin Sauls.
The man, well-known in the Mitchellville community, was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Hipp said. Deputies believe someone might have fought or pushed Chisolm.
"We don't think there was any physical weapon used," Hipp said.
The Sheriff's Office interviewed about six witnesses and persons of interest Monday and had more interviews scheduled Tuesday. Officers have not identified any suspects, Hipp said.
