A Beaufort man charged with attempted murder Saturday tried to shoot a man before his handgun jammed, a Beaufort Police Department spokeswoman said.
Matthew Nicholas Guldner's handgun jammed as he tried to shoot a man he was having an argument with early Saturday morning, Cpl. Hope Able said. Officers found Guldner, 21, still arguing with the man in a parking lot on Bay Street at 2:12 a.m., Able said.
The man told police Guldner pulled a handgun out and pointed at him, but the gun did not go off as he pulled the trigger because it was jammed, Able said. Officers found the handgun in bushes near the scene.
Guldner was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
