Emergency personnel rescued a man from a submerged vehicle Monday morning, according to the Bluffton Police Department.
Police officer Brady Lee, an off-duty Bluffton firefighter and other drivers helped pull the man from his Chevrolet pickup truck, which had crashed into a drainage pond near the intersection of Shell Hall Drive and Buckwalter Parkway and partially sank, a news release said.
The truck had rear-ended a Honda Accord traveling south on Buckwalter Parkway about 8:40 a.m. After impact, the truck crossed the northbound lanes, traveled through some brush and ended up in the pond, the release said.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital by Beaufort County EMS. No one else was injured.
