Two teenagers were arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a failed St. Helena Island break in and three Lady's Island burglaries.
Brent Elliott Doddridge of St. Helena Island and Logan James Phillips of Hilton Head Island, both 18, were charged with burglary Monday after a failed attempt at breaking into a home in the 100 block of Sea Pines Drive, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
At about 1:45 p.m., the 63-year-old resident was inside her house when she noticed two unknown men wearing bandanas over their faces walking through her front yard, the release stated. After they jumped over the fence into her backyard, she called 911.
While deputies were responding, the subjects jumped back over the fence and drove from the area in a dark blue sedan that had been parked in a wooded area beside her home, the release stated. Officers pulled the car over on Coffin Point Road near Cee Cee Road and arrested the suspects.
An investigation revealed Doddrige and Phillips' alleged involvement in three other burglaries reported on Lady's Island. The incidents took place between Nov. 7 and Monday on Marsh Hawk Drive, Pleasant Place Drive and Woods Lane, the release stated.
A list of property stolen in those incidents was not available Tuesday.
Doddridge and Phillips were charged with attempted housebreaking, one count of first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree burglary.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be pending, according to the Sheriff's Office.
