The S.C. Senate Select Committee will hold three public hearings for the Freedom of Healthcare Protection Act, according to a news release from Sen. Tom Davis, R-Beaufort.
The S.C. House of Representatives passed the bill in May, and it's now before the Senate, which did not vote on it before adjourning for the summer.
If passed by the Senate and signed into law by Gov. Nikki Haley, the bill will make it illegal for any state employee or agency to attempt to implement the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as "Obamacare."
The Senate hearings will be:
- 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday -- Greenville County Public Library, 25 Heritage Green Place, Greenville
- 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday -- The Gressette Building, room 209, Columbia
- 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday -- North Charleston City Hall, third floor, council chambers.
