Firefighters had to extricate the driver of an SUV that rolled onto its side after a two-vehicle crash in Shell Point Tuesday morning, a Burton Fire District spokesman said.
Burton paramedic Daniel Byrne said the two-SUV crash occurred near the intersection of Parris Island Gateway and Midtown Drive, which is near the Port Royal Bi-Lo grocery store.
One of the vehicles rolled over from the crash onto its side, Byrne said. The driver of that SUV had to be rescued from the vehicle and was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.
Firefighters, Beaufort County EMS and Port Royal were on scene for nearly two hours after responding to the crash around 8 a.m., Byrne said.
