Authorities continued searching Saturday for the body of a 54-year-old man who was thrown from his boat Wednesday on Wimbee Creek near Dale.
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources combed waters a few miles from the Wimbee Creek boat landing, but the search was unsuccessful as of Saturday night, said Robert McCullough, a spokesman for the agency.
Witnesses say the boat carrying Carl Mulligan and James Albany of Dale took a sharp turn Wednesday morning when the steering wheel broke free from its column, throwing Mulligan into the water near where Wimbee Creek joins Whale Branch, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
The men were on a fishing trip.
Albany was uninjured.
