Beaufort County volunteers are gearing up for the 25th annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep on Sept. 21.
The largest one-day litter cleanup of South Carolina's beaches and waterways is organized by the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
Anyone can participate, including businesses, clubs and civic groups. Volunteers may select any waterway to clean.
Site captains lead local cleanups and recruit volunteers. Keep Beaufort County Beautiful will assist with registration and can help volunteers select a cleanup area, according to a news release. For more information, call site captains Carol Murphy or Beth Lewis at 843-255-2734 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
