It's too early to tell what impact Tropical Storm Chantal might have on Beaufort County, a National Weather Service meteorologist said Tuesday.
Brett Cimdora, in the service's Charleston office, said the storm is too far out at sea to allow forecasters to make reliable predictions on how much wind and rain it might bring to the region.
Assuming Chantal continues on its predicted path, it effects would probably be felt in the Lowcountry early next week, but reliable projections on wind speed and rain amounts won't be available for several days.
Before the weekend, however, storms unrelated to Chantal are expected to return to Beaufort County, according to the weather service. Thursday's chance for rain is 40 percent, climbing to a 60 percent chance Friday and Saturday.
