A family of four is temporarily displaced after a fire at their Burton home Monday night.
The fire was reported at 6:40 p.m. on Leo Green Road. The homeowner said it started in the laundry room, and when she discovered the smoke, she shut the door and got the children out of the house, Burton Fire District Chief Harry Rountree said.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming out of the laundry room, which quickly erupted into flames shooting out of the window. The fire was put out within minutes, Rountree said.
There were no immediate signs indicating the fire was suspicious, but firefighters will investigate the cause, he said.

Two children were in the home with their mother at the time of the fire, but all got out of the house safely. The homeowner said they will stay in a hotel and with family, and they expect to be back in the home within a day or two.
