The Beaufort Police Department will conduct active-shooter training today and Wednesday at its headquarters and at Beaufort Elementary School, according to a news release.
Training will begin today at headquarters at 1901 Boundary St. and move to the elementary school at noon. It will continue at the school from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Police vehicles might be parked at or near the school during the training. No students will be on campus during the exercises.
Officers from Beaufort, Bluffton, the University of South Carolina and other area law enforcement agencies will participate in the classes, which will be taught by S.C. Law Enforcement Division agents, according to the release.
