Women in Philanthropy, a fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, has awarded $25,000 in grants to nonprofits that offer learning programs to improve the lives and careers of women and girls in Beaufort County, according to a news release.
Recipients are:
- Beaufort County First Steps, $2,500 for educating child care professionals.
- Bluffton Self Help, $6,000 for the Education Assistance Program.
- Friends of Caroline Hospice, $5,000 for continuing education for personal care assistants.
- Hope Haven of the Lowcountry, $11,500 for the Girls Circle program.
In addition, Women in Philanthropy has elected board members and officers, effective July 1: Margaret Sanders, chairman; Mary Briggs, vice chairman; and board members Jan Billingslea, Kaye Black, Juliann Foster, Hester Hodde, Susan Hooker, Judy Johnson and Margaret McManus.
