St. Helena Island meets Las Vegas in this Wednesday's episode of "American Idol," and Lowcountry Current will give you the low-down on Candice Glover -- before, during and after her performances, for as long as she remains a contestant.
The Vegas rounds of American Idol began last week, with the 40 contestants spread across four episodes. Glover, a St. Helena native, will perform during this week's show at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox.
Log on when you tune in because features reporter Laura Oberle will conduct a live chat at www.islandpacket.com/lowcountrycurrent throughout the show. Email questions or comments about Glover's performance -- or any other aspect of the show -- to firstname.lastname@example.org. You also can send Twitter messages to @IPBGCurrent.
Sudden-death eliminations began last week and will continue on each of the two shows this week. That will narrow the field to the top 20, who will move on to the live shows, which begin March 5.
This is Glover's third season on American Idol. Last season, she was eliminated during the Vegas rounds, but this season is looking more hopeful.
Glover received a standing ovation at her audition in Charlotte, with judge Randy Jackson calling it "the best audition I've heard so far this season," and Nicki Minaj saying, "If you don't go to the last round of this competition, there's something wrong."
