A man accused of charging about $500 on credit cards stolen from a Beaufort home was arrested Wednesday after eluding authorities for more than two weeks.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a tip that Robert Alfred Mallonee, 32, of Beaufort was staying at the Econo Lodge at 2227 Boundary St. in Beaufort. He was arrested there without incident.
The tip came less than a day after deputies issued a news release stating they believed Mallonee stole credit cards from a home on Chesterfield Lake Drive between Nov. 24 and 26. He was identified on surveillance footage using the cards, according to Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
Mallonee was charged with two felony counts of financial transaction theft, second-degree burglary and three misdemeanor counts of financial transaction card fraud.
