Hope Haven of the Lowcountry was one of five child-abuse prevention programs in the state selected for a federal grant.
The organization, which serves Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties, plans to use the $55,000 grant to expand its parent-child interaction program, designed to prevent abuse in low- and moderate-risk families.
The grant was awarded in October and will last for a three-year cycle, according to a news release from the Children's Trust of South Carolina. The Children's Trust is a state organization responsible for disbursing federal funds for child-abuse prevention.
