Daylight Saving Time, which began in March, ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.
If you have clocks in your home that do not automatically reset, move them back an hour before going to bed Saturday night. You'll get an extra hour of sleep, and you're clocks will be properly set when you awake.
After that, it's time to get to work on a few semi-annual safety chores.
Here is a checklist culled from various public-safety websites:
Check and replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms. Replace any smoke alarms older than 10 years. Replace any CO alarms older than five years.
Prepare or update a disaster supply kit for your house. Include water, food, flashlights, batteries and blankets. Make sure to test flashlight batteries if you already have a kit and replace any that no longer work.
Prepare an emergency kit for your vehicle, too. Colder weather is coming, so add a blanket, hand-warmers or other items that could keep you warm if you become stranded.
Check your home and storage buildings for hazardous materials. Discard (properly, please) any that are outdated, no longer used or in poor condition. Move any which are within reach of kids or pets.
Check your pantry. Throw out any canned good that is swollen, dented or corroded and any other food that is past its expiration date.
Check and discard expired medications. Some common over-the-counter medications can cause serious problems because of changes due to aging.
If you're already getting a little blue just thinking of how it will now get dark earlier, cheer up. Daylight Saving Time returns March 10, 2013.
