One woman has been arrested and three men are being sought in connection with a home invasion Sunday night in Beaufort.
Shannon Margaret Barnett, 37, of Beaufort was charged with first-degree burglary, armed robbery and three counts of kidnapping. She was being held Monday without bond in the Beaufort County Detention Center, according to the jail log.
The men still at large were not yet identified Monday, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. They were described as black men between 25 and 30 years old, wearing blue jeans, black shirts and bandannas over their faces.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a home on Windsong Lane at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Three men, ages 24, 34 and 66, said three men forced their way into the home through a back door armed with an AK-47 and a shotgun.
The suspects held the victims at gunpoint in the living room. A woman, whom the victims knew as "Shannon," started rummaging through bedrooms, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The four suspects took a camera valued at $275 and drove away in a black Infiniti. The victims called 911.
Deputies stopped a black Infiniti matching the description of the getaway car, and Barnett was the sole occupant. She was identified as the woman in the robbery, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The home invasion was the third in northern Beaufort County in less than three weeks. The first occurred Aug. 22 when a mother and her daughter were held at gunpoint and robbed as they entered their Lady's Island home. The second was Aug. 28 when two men with a handgun broke into a Burton home with a mother and two children inside. A Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said the first two were unrelated. It was not immediately known Monday if Sunday's home invasion was connected to either of the previous ones.
