A former Hilton Head Island real estate agent was arrested Friday and is accused of selling jewelry stolen from several local homes that are for sale, according to authorities.
Darrell Finch, 38, was arrested at about 10 a.m. by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office on a fugitive-of-justice warrant issued by the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department, which had linked him to stolen jewelry sold to a Savannah pawn shop, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
"Apparently, some of the stolen jewelry from our cases showed up in a pawn shop in Savannah, and they were able to identify him as the seller," McIntosh said.
McIntosh said Georgia authorities believe some of the jewelry is from a series of thefts from homes for sale on Wedgefield Drive, Colonial Drive, Knollwood Drive, Oyster Bay Place and Sea Robin Court on Hilton Head Island. The thefts occurred between April and late June.

McIntosh said the theft investigation continues, and Finch has not been charged in that case or been formally identified as a suspect.
A spokesman for the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department was unable to provide details Friday about the stolen jewelry and what charges Finch might face.
Finch was in the Beaufort County Detention Center on Friday, according to the jail log.
Finch was most recently a real estate agent with Re/Max Island Realty before his license was returned to the S.C. Department of Labor, License and Regulation by his broker-in-charge and declared inactive June 21, said agency spokeswoman Lesia Kudelka.
"His license is still current, but he cannot act as a real estate broker until (or) unless the (agency) is notified that he is working under a new broker-in-charge," Kudelka said in an email.
Maria Skrip, the broker-in-charge and owner of Island Realty, declined to comment Friday but confirmed she returned Finch's real estate license to the state agency last month. Skrip also confirmed that Finch no longer worked for the real estate firm.
Finch began work with Island Realty in September 2010, according to his LinkedIn profile.
