A onetime Bluffton resident is accused of stealing two checks from a relative and cashing them for more than $1,500 at a Hilton Head Island market, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say Alfredo Cesar Gaudry, 40, stole the checks from his stepfather's home on Sutton Court in Woodbridge this month.
The checks were cashed April 11 at El Don Juan Super Mercado at Mathews Court on Hilton Head, said Robin McIntosh, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. It's not clear where Gaudry lives, but he is known to frequent Hardeeville and Ridgeland, McIntosh said in a press release.
Gaudry is accused of forging checks from the same person in July 2010. He is wanted in connection with that incident and for grand larceny.
He is described as Hispanic, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with a tattoo on his right forearm of a dagger, snake, skull and roses.
