A man robbed an Okatie pharmacy at gunpoint Thursday night and made off with more than $1,000 in pills, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Customers and employees of the Walgreens on Okatie Center Boulevard South reported that a man carrying a backpack entered the store at about 9:50 p.m. He displayed a handgun at the pharmacy counter and fled with 600 to 800 pills valued at a total of $1,100, Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
He was last seen walking into woods near the store. No employees or customers were injured. Authorities didn't say what type of drugs were stolen.
The robber was described as white, 20 to 30 years old, about 6-foot-1 and 165 pounds, wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants and a tan hat.
