Seabrook-area residents are providing little help to investigators as they attempt to identify suspects in the fatal shooting Tuesday of a 23-year-old Beaufort man, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
Octavis Moultrie was found shot outside a home on Fawnwood Lane at about 2 p.m. and was later pronounced dead at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Deputy Coroner David Ott said.
Ott declined to say how many times Moultrie was shot, citing the ongoing investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators are unsure what led to the shooting, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Robin McIntosh said.
"We don't have a lot of information right now," McIntosh said. "Unfortunately, we're not getting a lot of cooperation from the community."
Witnesses and area residents have told investigators that two black men thought to be involved in the crime were last seen fleeing the scene in a white Chevrolet Tahoe.
However, no suspects were identified Tuesday.
An autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Ott said.
