A Catholic high school planned in the Okatie area received a $3 million gift to support its construction.
Pope John Paul II Catholic School is expected to open within two to three years, thanks to the gift, according to a news release. The school will be built along S.C. 170.
The Most Rev. Robert E. Guglielmone, bishop of Charleston, announced the gift Friday.
The money comes from the Richard D. Ennen Charitable Remainder Trust.
