Several stars of golf's Champions Tour will be visiting Hilton Head Island on April 22 and 23 when Wexford Plantation hosts the first Fellowship of Christian Athletes Golf Champions Tour Pro-Am.
Champions Tour golfers Andy Bean, Brad Byrant, Fred Funk, Morris Hatalsky, Larry Mize, Larry Nelson, Kenny Perry, Tom Pernice Jr., Loren Roberts and Scott Simpson have committed to play so far in the field.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the FCA Golf Ministry and the South Coastal FCA organization. The entry fee is $1,500 per player and limited to the first 72 golfers.
There will be a Champions Tour professional in each of the tournament's 18 foursomes as they play the newly redesigned Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course at Wexford Plantation. The course recently hosted 17 college men's teams in the seventh annual Wexford Intercollegiate.
The event will tee off on Sunday night with a banquet that includes hors d'oeuvres, dinner a pairings party and a silent auction. Items for auction include "A Day with Jack Nicklaus" golf clinic, lunch with Tom Lehman, a week in a two-bedroom apartment in Todi, Italy, and numerous collectibles and autographed items.
There will be a breakfast and range warm-up Monday before a shotgun start. Prizes will be awarded at a post-round luncheon for closest-to-the-pin, longest drive and best score by team, as well as best overall score.
FCA is a nonprofit, interdenominational sports ministry focused on athletes and coaches from the youth to the professional level. The South Coastal FCA organization is involved in 28 middle and high schools in Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper Counties.
