Jennie Stephens, the executive director of the Center for Heirs Property, will offer a free, educational presentation about gaining clear title to property passed down through families, according to a news release.
The center helps low-income owners of heirs property keep their property by providing educational and legal services. In 2011, the center found more than 3,000 acres of heirs property in Beaufort County and 11,000 acres in Colleton County, the release said.
The Lowcountry Housing Trust, city of Beaufort and town of Port Royal will host the presentation from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Beaufort City Hall at 1911 Boundary St.
