Oyster lovers gathered Sunday for a oyster roast fundraiser hosted by the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Leadership Class of 2012 at Roastfish and Cornbread restaurant on Hilton Head. Proceeds from the event will support the leadership class's project to establish a kiosk telling the story of Mitchelville, created for freed slaves in 1862, before the Emancipation Proclamation and a year after Union ships drove Confederate troops from Hilton Head Island.
